NE1 Year Teams - 2008/09

Following on from the impact of the NE1 summer mission of 2006, YFC in the North East and NE1 have teamed up to provide a 1 year youth work training experience - for those wanting to develop their youth work skills or test a calling into full time youth work. The first year (2006/07) saw 9 people, mainly between the ages of 18-25 placed in teams around the region serving God amongst young people.

2008/09
For 2008/09 there will be capacity for more people to be part of NE1: Year Teams throughout the North East. If your taste lies in music, sport, leadership, communication, reaching marginalised young people, or general youth work; there could be a place for you. If you’ve done a ‘year out’ programme already, we’d look to take your youth work experience onto the next level through a tailor made placement.

When does it start?
You’d start the year at the beginning of September 2008 with a dynamic 3 week training experience. The training will continue throughout your year alongside nationally recognised youth specialists. Your year would then conclude mid July 2009.

Placements
Most placements will involve general youth work and outreach opportunities, and we can discuss your personal preference of type and place. There are also limited options for working either amongst Young Offenders (male or female) or as part of a specifically focussed football ministry.

Costs
The only financial cost for the year is £1,400 – payable at the start of
the year. This is a contribution towards placement, training and
location expenses.

Parents & Church Leaders
NE1: Year Teams is a great opportunity for young people to be stretched in many
areas of their lives. They will gain valuable experience whilst undergoing spiritual
development and biblical training. Each person will be given continued
support as they learn how to use gifts God has given them. We encourage all team
members to stay connected to their home community through regular prayer updates,
newsletters and visits.
