By Rail
Travel to Newcastle upon Tyne station. Then take the Metro from Newcastle Central Station to North Shields. From Central Station Metro station you need to go 1 stop further to Monument metro station. Then you change, to go to North Shields metro station. Make sure your metro route goes towards Manors, and not Haymarket as this is a circular line! The route is : Monument – Manors – Byker – Chillingham Rd – Walkergate – Wallsend – Hadrian Rd – Howden – Percy Main – Meadowell – North Shields. Your metro journey is approx 40 mins. The YMCA building is 5 – 10 mins walk from the station. Walk up Nile St, the road curls to your left. Then turn right onto West Percy Street, and then right onto Church St, where the entrance to the YMCA Building is.

By Car From North
From A1 follow signs for A19, travel south till you reach A1058 turn left towards coast, signposted Tynemouth , and North Shields. At the end of the A1058 dual carriageway, you get to a roundabout. Take 3rd exit onto A1108 to North Shields. You get to a roundabout where you take 2nd exit onto Chirton Green (A193). Continue on A193, till you turn right onto Bedford St (B143), and left onto West Percy Street, then right onto Church St, where the YMCA building is. There is metered parking directly outside the building.

By Car from South
Travel up A19, going through Tyne Tunnel. There is a toll charge of £1.20 each way. Make sure you have the correct change (although there is a change machine on the left hand side as you approach the toll booths)! Take the first exit after the toll station, signposted A193 going right towards North Shields. Go through 2 roundabouts still on A193 (1.3mi). At third roundabout, take 3rd exit onto Chirton Green, continue to follow A193. Turn right onto Bedford St (B143), and left onto West Percy Street, then right onto Church Street, where the YMCA building is. There is metered parking directly outside the building.

By Car from West
From Newcastle upon Tyne you want to take the main road to the Coast, A1058, which will be signposted Tynemouth/ Whitley Bay. This is dual carriage all the way. Stay on this for roughly 7 miles, till you get to a roundabout (end of dual carriage way), where you take 3rd exit onto A1108 to North Shields. You get to a roundabout where you take 2nd exit onto Chirton Green (A193). Continue on A193, till you turn right onto Bedford St (B143), and left onto West Percy Street, then right onto Church St, where the YMCA building is. There is metered parking directly outside the building.
